DCAC

Introduction to DCAC
The Detroit Climate Action Collaborative (DCAC) is a unique project of community groups, universities, state agencies, city leaders, environmental and public health organizations, and Detroit businesses and institutions. It brings together these constituents and more to make the plan for how carbon pollution reductions and climate change preparedness projects will contribute to the backbone of Detroit’s comeback – so we rebuild in a way that’s strong and resilient and responsible given the challenges of climate change. DCAC was convened by the community environmental organization Detroiters Working for Environmental Justice (DWEJ). Please contact Eric, Leila or Kimberly at DWEJ if you are interested in participating in this effort or learn more about it

Events
Detroit Climate Action Collaborative (DCAC), an initiative of Detroiters Working for Environmental Justice, is developing the city of Detroit’s first Climate Action Plan with District Community Leaders meeting with people from various sectors, including residents, block club captains, nonprofit leaders, pastors, and small business owners. We intend to develop innovative solutions to reduce carbon pollution and believe that engagement and input from the community are key roles in this process. DCAC wants to ensure that Detroit is more livable and resilient in the face of climate change. Our approach to climate change is through an environmental justice lens. The Detroit Climate Action Plan is an opportunity for Detroit to come back in a way that is built on good paying jobs that go hand in hand with clean neighborhoods, better health, strong city services and lower costs for businesses and residents.
